With only one team entered in the B Grade competition this year, the Redbacks descended on Adelaide with high hopes of picking up the trophy. After a great learning experience in the Summer Classic in February and positive signs in training in the lead-up, the team was feeling good. First nationals experiences for the majority of the team along with competitive debuts for both Victoria and Laurie meant the team had a good balance of experience and enthusiasm.  Continue reading “Nationals 2014 – Saturday and Sunday 7th/8th June”

Redbacks rock Adelaide

Adelaide Summer Classic – Saturday 22nd February

Redbacks: Rebecca, Victoria, Sarah, Meena, Gemma, Jake, Graham, Rob, Neil

The Redbacks travelled down to Adelaide for the second annual Summer Classic with gaining experience and having fun the main things on the agenda (as well as destroying the locals in their own back yard). Excited for their first matches since June and korfing debuts for Victoria and Jake, the Redbacks arrived early to hone their playing style before the games began.

New Committee take the Reins

Looking to build on the stellar work by the outgoing committee, a new committee have been elected for 2014: Graham Morris as president; Sarah Higginson secretary; Neil Hayes treasurer; George Lincoln as publicity and development; Gemma Pratt as social sec and last but not least, our club coach Rebecca.

Let’s give them all our support and hopefully reap the rewards in 2014.

No Ball Games on Bondi – Except Korfball!

It was Sydney’s most korfball-filled weekend ever as the European touring team came to town. Some unbelievable skills were demonstrated and learned on the court – and also in the bar! Highlights of the weekend included a backpacker pub crawl, having a game on Bondi, and the Redbacks demolishing the Europeans in a super serious match…

Bondi Korf

We hope our Dutch, Belgian, Czech, British and Portuguese friends enjoyed their time here and that us Redbacks can emulate the playing skills shown by the touring team in the near future.
