With the series returning back to Newcastle, the Redbacks were looking to improve on their last result but unfortunately came up just short with the final score being 14-18 in favour of the Royals.
The match was close throughout with Newcastle only pulling away near the end of the match. Sydney tried to keep the game close, but some costly errors gave Newcastle the opening they needed to put the game away.
Sydney shared the 14 goals between them, with Graham and Josh sharing top goal scorer with 3 each and Neha and new Dutch recruit Mandy Hooijmans both coming away with two goals. Neil, Meena, Jennifer Barrett (her first game for Sydney and her first ever game of Korfball) and Daniel scored one goal each.
Mandy had an amazing first game for Sydney. She scored two goals on debut and helped Sydney stay in the game with her wealth of Korfing knowledge and skills. She took on a coaching role with Graham after only two training sessions with the team!
