Sydney Redbacks travelled north only a week after the National Club Championships to take on Newcastle Royals for the first time in Gosford.
The game was once again played in thirds, with Newcastle continuing their form in this format, taking out the win 23-8. Sydney fought hard, but an intense Nationals campaign left the team struggling to continue their run of form from the previous weekend. The club introduced two new players to the NSW Korfball scene with Rachel Reithmuller and Stavros Spyridakis making their debuts for the Redbacks.
